- ➤ From Nov. 10–14, Stolley Park Elementary students led by GISH National Honor Society Senior Katelyn Sodomka collected 718 items for the Central Nebraska Humane Society (a drive that rallied friendly classroom competition and community support). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Central Community College will host its winter commencement ceremony at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 at the Raider Fieldhouse on the Columbus Campus (4500 63rd St.), featuring a keynote by Traci Skalberg and remarks by President Dr. Matt Gotschall, with a performance by Spectrum singing the national anthem. - ➤ A Nebraska-based nonprofit donated $20,000 to Central Community College for its automotive careers training center yesterday. KSNB
- ➤ YWCA of Grand Island is fast-tracking renovations at the former Starr Elementary School on Wyandotte Street to expand after-school care with the 'Almost Home' program, adding 150 childcare spots. The project requires an extra $3.9 million for phase two upgrades (including a new HVAC system, roof, and commercial kitchen). Nebraska TV
