- ➤ Last Saturday at Fonner Park in Grand Island, Show Me Reptiles displayed snakes, lizards and other exotic animals for public viewing and sale. Event coordinator Justin Lamonda said the traveling event has been educating local visitors for 10 years—connecting breeders with animal enthusiasts. KSNB
- ➤ A concrete turtle built 50 years ago for Optimist Park by the late Gene Budde was returned to its family (the daughter said it is 'cool as it can be'). The Grand Island Independent
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Toast Nebraska is hosting its annual holiday wine festival in Grand Island, bringing together 22 vineyards from across Nebraska for wine sampling and sales ahead of the holidays. The event, now in its fifth year, offers local wine lovers a chance to try unique wines that highlight historic themes along Highway 12. KSNB
- ➤ Show Me Reptiles brought its traveling event to Grand Island (a reptile exhibit) where local visitors could view the display. KSNB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Research from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln showed that about one-quarter of Nebraska’s overdose deaths from 2014 to 2020 did not list a specific drug—leaving health officials with incomplete data to track dangerous trends and respond with proper lifesaving treatments. KSNB
