COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Grand Generation Center hosted its first veterans party Monday as local veterans were served meals by Grand Island Central Catholic students and then heard remarks from city council members and the chairman of Hall County Warriors — Mayor Roger Steele stressed the importance of honoring veterans who have served our country. The event recognized the sacrifices made by veterans and provided a moment of gratitude for their dedication.  KSNB

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Principal Connor Williams said a student was hit by a vehicle on the way to school this morning near Meadowlark Elementary + he confirmed the student is okay and urged parents to review safety practices.  Nebraska TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On Monday morning, the Nebraska Farm Bureau released its state farm expenses report showing that rising costs for equipment and maintenance have outpaced commodity prices. The report noted that a new trade deal with China helped improve conditions at the end of October — although tougher loan repayment rates may continue to affect farming operations.  KSNB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fourteen Islander students from Grand Island Senior High have been chosen for the 2025 All-State Music Ensembles at the Lied Center in Lincoln from November 20th to 22nd — they were selected by the Nebraska Music Education Association for their work in concert band, mixed chorus, jazz band and orchestra.  Central Nebraska Today
  • Blake Teichmeier, a teacher at Walnut Middle School, won the Big Idea 2025 contest for his financial literacy project on GreatCents.org — Toasted by Danish Bakery took second and will soon open a location in town while Spot On Childcare Connect earned third for its app that links parents with care providers.  Central Nebraska Today
  • Grand Island Public Schools' Brian Caspar was named Nebraska Elementary P.E. Teacher of the Year after 24 years of teaching at Engleman and Stolley Park Elementary—he credited his mentors and passion for working with children as key to his success.  Central Nebraska Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney and CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island are hosting the annual Tree of Love—an event where residents can order a personalized 2025 snow globe ornament for $20 to honor loved ones. A blessing ceremony is set for Dec. 4 at 11:30 a.m. at both hospitals—proceeds will fund an ambulance replacement project and a patient assistance fund.  Central Nebraska Today
  • Third City Community Clinic will host a documentary screening and ribbon cutting celebration on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. starting with a private screening at B and B Theaters at Conestoga Marketplace before guests visit the remodeled clinic at 1107 N. Broadwell Avenue for guided tours and refreshments until 1 p.m.—this event marks a new chapter in the clinic’s commitment to free, quality care for local residents.  Central Nebraska Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson and quarterback TJ Lateef were honored by the Big Ten Conference Monday after the Huskers’ win at UCLA, with Johnson earning Offensive Player of the Week by reaching 100 rushing and 100 receiving yards in one game + Lateef sharing Freshman Player of the Week for his strong play in his first start.  Central Nebraska Today
