  • Two local foundations donated funds to help Choice Family Healthcare keep its STI testing and screening services running for low-income families in Grand Island. The executive said the donation is very important as the clinic seeks more grants—showing community support during hard times.  KSNB
  • Farm Credit Services employees from McCook, Broken Bow and Kearney are joining Buffalo County Community Partners in a Give an Hour pilot by gathering in Kearney this week to assemble Neighbor to Neighbor packets that share mental health resources with local ag producers—supporting a goal to train 500 Wellness Ambassadors annually.  Central Nebraska Today

FINANCE NEWS

  • The Nebraska Lottery ticket sales fell by over $36M in the fiscal year ended July 1 — the drop is linked to soaring casino gambling — according to the state auditor.  The Grand Island Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission urges hunters to yield to farm equipment on public and private roads as the harvest continues and hunting seasons open (hunters on private land must obtain permission and use designated parking areas).  Central Nebraska Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • At the GIPS Volleyball Showcase, eighth-grade teams from Barr, Walnut and Westridge played at the Walnut gym and traded jerseys with Grand Island Senior High while donating items to Hope Harbor as a pink out to honor breast cancer awareness—an event that helped build bonds—and prepared for a future as they merge into one team.  KSNB
  • Nebraska middle blocker Andi Jackson earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting 10 blocks and 13 kills in sweeps over Michigan State and Michigan—supporting her team’s strong defensive play. The Huskers will play Northwestern Friday at 6 p.m., with pregame coverage on KLIN and B-107.3.  Central Nebraska Today
  • The Big Ten announced that Nebraska football will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Memorial Stadium in a game against USC on NBC—pre-game coverage is available on KSNB Local4 and KNOP News 2.  KSNB
