- ➤ A neighborhood group called the Founders’ District organized a tree planting project on Oct. 11 in central Grand Island where 17 trees from the Nebraska Forest Service and Arbor Day Foundation were planted by local residents at 10 homes along Koenig, Charles and Louise Streets. The event involved about 30—40 people including scouts and community leaders and received donated mulch and tree stakes from Bomgaars and Home Depot. Central Nebraska Today
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Nebraska Cornhuskers beat Maryland 34-31 on Saturday after Dylan Raiola threw a 3-yard touchdown pass with 1:08 remaining. Nebraska rallied from turnovers and a lost lead and will play at Minnesota on Friday night. KSNB
- ➤ UNK Football used three second-half turnovers by Missouri Western to secure a 27-7 homecoming win Saturday — UNK improved to 5-2 while Missouri Western fell to 1-5 as key plays turned the tide. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ Nebraska beat Maryland 34-31 on the road after an early lead, missteps in the middle, and a strong fourth quarter that turned the game around—Dylan Raiola’s key plays set up the win. The Cornhuskers will travel to Minnesota Friday at 7 p.m. for their next Big Ten contest. Central Nebraska Today
