- ➤ On Sunday, the 'We Are One' community march brought nearly 80 participants from La Flor Mexican Restaurant (on Fourth Street) to City Hall and back during Welcoming Week. Speakers including Jennifer Figueroa and Police Chief Kevin Denney (local leaders) stressed that embracing diversity and kindness has always defined our community. The Grand Island Independent
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ At 10 a.m. Saturday, the University of Nebraska at Kearney will host its 66th Band Day Parade with 36 middle and high school bands and the UNK Pride of the Plains Marching Band. The event leads to the Harvest of Harmony Parade on Oct. 4 in Grand Island—top bands will get trophies for their best performances. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ On Sunday, Nebraska's soccer team drew 0-0 with Ohio State as the Husker defense held the Buckeyes to nine shots and goalkeeper Cece Villa earned her fourth shutout while the team moved to a 5-0-5 record. KSNB
