- ➤ Grand Island City Council approved its fiscal year 2026 budget at a Sept. 9 meeting. The budget keeps the property tax request at $13,015,619.52, forecasts total sales tax revenue of $29,720,296, and includes new hires and capital projects across the city (covering police, parks, and public works). - ➤ The City of Grand Island said Wednesday afternoon it has parted ways with City Administrator Laura McAloon — a new Chick-fil-A is set to open Thursday, September 18 at Conestoga Marketplace. Gov.
