  • Husker Harvest Days is held 6 miles west of Grand Island on Husker Highway with free online registration and ends today. Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen and Agriculture Director Sherry Vinton will headline the Nebraska Farmer Hour — a session that looks at the future of farming and opportunities for young producers.  Central Nebraska Today

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chick-fil-A announced it will open a new Grand Island location in the Conestoga Marketplace on Thursday, September 18—local residents can soon enjoy its familiar menu.  KSNB
  • Target will open on Oct. 12 in the Conestoga Marketplace with a 148,000 square foot store that is expected to employ about 140 team members—services include Drive Up, Order Pickup, and same-day delivery along with a food section and key brands like Apple at Target, CVS Pharmacy, and Starbucks Café.  KSNB
  • Farmers gathered on Tuesday morning at Husker Harvest Days to watch a new drone fly over corn rows and show how it can spray crops. Manager Austin Lueth of Red Solutions said the Vector AGR HD580, which has four large blades+sprays wide areas, sparked interest from growers like Jeremy Ostransky who may use it to cut spraying delays.  The Grand Island Independent
  • Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island will begin flights to Dallas with a new 75-seat CRJ-900 jet from SkyWest—this change follows a year of record passenger numbers that raised demand. Airport director Mike Olson said the extra seats will help break the previous record of 71,000 passengers served—adding needed capacity for the growing route.  KSNB

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Henry Fonda Film Festival will run from Sept. 26 to Sept. 28 at the Grand Theatre—hosted by the Hall County Historical Society—to honor native Henry Fonda by screening six classic films while offering advance ticket sales.  Central Nebraska Today

  • The City of Grand Island announced on Wednesday that it parted ways with City Administrator Laura McAloon — no replacement has been named yet.  KSNB
