EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sixth graders at Westridge Middle School in Grand Island have started a new homeroom program—Cougar Time—that helps them set goals, learn about grades and bond with new classmates in small groups. Teachers explain the 25-minute sessions ease the transition into middle school and build connections between students from different elementary schools.  KSNB

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday at Memorial Stadium, Nebraska beat Akron 68-0 as the offense made long runs, eight big passes, and even scored a safety early in the game—108 players shared the field. The strong play by quarterback Dylan Raiola, running back Emmett Johnson, and receiver Jacory Barney, Jr. set career highs while coaches work to build a tougher running game.  Central Nebraska Today
  • On Sunday, the top Nebraska volleyball team beat Cal 25-15, 25-18, 25-12 without ever falling behind and made it nine straight sets. The team will play Utah Friday at John Cook Arena; pregame coverage starts at 5:00 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.  Central Nebraska Today
