- ➤ Three Grand Island-area products are among the Top 16 in the Coolest Thing Made in Nebraska contest, featuring the AF Series Combine Harvester from Case IH, ATip Match Bullets from Hornady Manufacturing and the world’s largest folding corn head from Bish Enterprises. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Grand Island is urging residents to vote—if approved, the $120,000 Levitt Foundation Grant will fund the summer concert series for the next three years. KSNB
- ➤ The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office will welcome a new K9 named Fritz—trained to detect drugs, explosives and dangerous substances—at the end of October. He is a German shorthair from Jonesboro funded by an anonymous $10,000 donation and additional local contributions, and will complete a five-week training course with Deputy Nathan Howe. KSNB
- ➤ The CPNRD Board set the 2025-26 property tax request at $5,347,834.31 and lowered the levy to 0.021738 after a Thursday public hearing in Grand Island—this change means a $200,000 home will pay $43.48 in taxes to support flood control, water quality, and soil health programs. - ➤ Grand Island's CFO Patrick Brown will present the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget at the City Council meeting on September 8th at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers (at City Hall) and he will propose lowering the mill levy to keep property taxes stable for residents. Nebraska TV
