CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Nebraska State Patrol and Lexington Police Department activated an Endangered Missing Advisory early Tuesday for Elmer Ramirez Rojas after he was last seen Monday morning driving a 2006 maroon Honda Ridgeline (license plates 18229G) to a job site in Hebron, and the alert covers Grand Island, North Platte, and Lincoln. - ➤ The Nebraska State Fair will debut State Fairtoberfest on Friday, August 29—an event celebrating German and Czech heritage with music, food and contests at the Pump & Pantry Party Pit. In partnership with Kinkaider Brewing Company, Liederkranz and Plattdeutsche, the event is planned to offer fairgoers a vibrant cultural experience. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ The Grand Island Public Schools Foundation will host its 4th Annual Harvest fundraiser on Sept. 25 at Riverside Golf Club to support students with scholarships and improved learning opportunities. - ➤ The City Council will discuss a new three‐year contract between GIPD and the Central Nebraska Humane Society—this deal will help fund the sheltering of animals captured by police. KSNB
- ➤ Yesterday the Grand Island City Council talked about a new three-year contract for the police department and Central Nebraska Humane Society that would bring animal control in-house — the plan aims to make handling animal calls simpler and add more officers during the change. The contract would also secure needed shelter care funding for the Humane Society. KSNB
