Grand Island police arrested Darla Smith on August 13 for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, theft—receiving stolen property, false reporting, resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia after officers located her in a stolen vehicle during a welfare check at the Central District Health Department on South Locust St.

Officers arrested a New Mexico woman in Grand Island after they found her asleep in a stolen South Dakota car—its trunk held 10 rifles.

Grand Island residents will enjoy free fun at the 11-day Nebraska State Fair at Fonner Park starting August 22 as they watch high-flying stunt dogs, a sea lion show, a walking tree and various circus acts — all included with gate admission —.
