- ➤ Grand Island police arrested Darla Smith on August 13 for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, theft—receiving stolen property, false reporting, resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia after officers located her in a stolen vehicle during a welfare check at the Central District Health Department on South Locust St. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ Officers arrested a New Mexico woman in Grand Island after they found her asleep in a stolen South Dakota car—its trunk held 10 rifles. KSNB

- ➤ Grand Island residents will enjoy free fun at the 11-day Nebraska State Fair at Fonner Park starting August 22 as they watch high-flying stunt dogs, a sea lion show, a walking tree and various circus acts — all included with gate admission —. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ From August 22 to September 1, the Pepsi Live Music Series will feature 47 bands performing in 54 genres at three main stages—Earl May Fair Square, ACP Park Stage, and the Pump & Pantry Party Pit at the Nebraska State Fair.
