- ➤ A severe storm hit eastern Nebraska Saturday morning and toppled trees and power lines in Lincoln with wind gusts of 80-90 mph while a fallen tree struck a pickup truck at Two Rivers State Park, killing one woman. Emergency crews restored power for tens- of-thousands of customers and officials monitored weather reports for any additional risks. The Grand Island Independent

- ➤ Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins visited Nebraska on August 9 and met with Senator Deb Fischer, congressmen Don Bacon, Mike Flood and Adrian Smith as well as agricultural leaders at the UNL Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center. She toured feedlot technology, participated in a closed roundtable and discussed the struggles of wheat, soybean and corn producers—hinting at a possible farm bill coming in the fall. Nebraska TV
