- ➤ Hornady Manufacturing pledged $100,000 to support a downtown project that will provide 20 homes for people facing homelessness and disabilities. Hope Harbor said the project is in the planning phase (it will break ground in spring 2026 with completion expected in 2027). Central Nebraska Today
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, August 6, the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation honored six educators as Teacher of the Year during an all-staff assembly; the winners — including educators from elementary, middle and high schools, a specialist, a staff member and an administrator — received plaques and cash awards after more than 2,000 nominations were submitted. This annual recognition, sponsored by First National Bank of Omaha, highlighted the positive impact of these educators on students’ lives. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced today that refunds totaling about $30,000 were secured for nearly 300 Nebraska businesses misled by deceptive mailers from Fast Filing Services LLC—businesses that overpaid by extra fees for their state filings.
