- ➤ A Grand Island man threw a Molotov cocktail at the Department of Homeland Security building and was arrested on June 16, with 34-year-old Eulisis Martin now facing federal charges for malicious damage, possession of a Molotov cocktail, destruction of government property and threatening officials (evidence includes spray-painted words and slashed vehicle tires). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The SBA announced low-interest disaster loans for small businesses, nonprofits and residents hit by storms and flooding on June 25 to 26 that help pay for repairs and property replacement. Starting at noon today, SBA representatives are available at the Grand Island/Hall County Emergency Management & Communications located at 1210 N. North Rd. — they will assist with applications while deadlines are Sept 26 for physical damage loans and April 28, 2026 for economic injury loans. Nebraska TV
- ➤ A groundbreaking ceremony was held east of the Hall County Courthouse on July 29 for an addition to address space and security issues. Hall County Commissioners issued $40 million in bonds for the project—Chief Construction is the contractor and Davis Design of Lincoln is the architect, with work scheduled to take two and a half years. - ➤ The SBA announced that small businesses, nonprofits and residents affected by flooding and severe storms on June 25-26 in Grand Island and nearby counties are eligible for low-interest disaster loans for repairing properties and business assets. SBA representatives will assist with applications at noon today at the Hall County Disaster Loan Outreach Center (1210 N. North Rd., Grand Island). Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ The Nebraska State Fair purchased a 20-acre campus and 15-acre pasture adjacent to the south parking area for $4.25 million to secure parking for the 11-day fair and 4-day livestock show. The deal included a vet clinic, residence, and arena — all part of a negotiated package that officials say will support future operations without selling the pastureland. KSNB
