CRIME NEWS

  • A skirmish in Grand Island between two men left one man with a possible broken nose and a police officer was assaulted—officials are investigating the incident.  The Grand Island Independent

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Hall County's unemployment rate rose to 4.8% in June from 3.2% in May when McCain Foods shut down for a remodel, putting many workers in a temporary attached status (counted as unemployed though not actively job hunting). Local officials remain optimistic as new businesses open and service growth could boost job opportunities.  KSNB

  • The Grand Island Police Department will attend National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5 to visit block parties and build stronger ties with local residents.
