Visitors to Happy Jack Peak and Chalk Mine can join the 'Putting Off the Peak' event today as they try to drive golf balls from near the top into a sandbar in the North Loup River from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.—the mine will offer guided tours on its history and cool 53-degree interior and remain open daily until Oct 10.

Executive Director Jaime Parr told the State Fair board on Friday that this year’s Nebraska State Fair will include 5,177 hours of activities—promising a rich lineup of events for fairgoers.

The Grand Island City Council will hold a study session on July 29 where Grow Grand Island will present its plans to use Food + Beverage tax revenues, with Tonja Brown outlining the proposal.

The session will allow city leaders to learn more about how the funds may be applied in the future.
