- ➤ Grand Island Police arrested 47-year-old Victor Arviso-Licano for theft, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia after he was found with a stolen silver 2003 Honda Odyssey on S. Webb Rd. on July 8—officers later recovered the vehicle on Ruby Ave. while a separate stolen vehicle near N. Elm St. reported by a 31-year-old woman was found in Hastings and remains under investigation. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Dr. Brian Maher, Nebraska’s education commissioner, announced his bid for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents District 1 seat on Thursday.
