- ➤ Oscar Garcia became Grand Island Public Schools' new Director of Nutrition Services in March after longtime director Kris Spellman retired following 27 years of service. Garcia, who worked with Spellman since May 2024 and previously held management roles at Hy-Vee, will lead the department to serve more than 8,000 students daily — ensuring a smooth transition in the school meals program.
