- ➤ Hear Grand Island returns for its ninth summer concert series in Railside, featuring Nebraska artists & a new collaboration with local business and tourism groups. Officials announced on Friday morning at Amur Plaza that the series will have six concerts starting next Friday through Aug. 8, except July 4. KSNB

- ➤ The Nebraska State Patrol has added a new K9 named Scooter to its Tech Crimes Unit—Scooter is a two-year-old yellow Labrador retriever trained in electronics storage detection—and she will also serve as an ambassador for internet safety and child advocacy events. KSNB
- ➤ Nebraska State Fair executive director Jaime Parr told the Grand Island City Council on June 10 that the fair is seeking a $2.6 million city contribution to cover a shortfall for improvements at Fonner Park (including paving, lighting, security cameras, and electrical upgrades) that will benefit multiple facilities ahead of the fair in just over 60 days. City Administrator Laura McAloon said the request is under review as the fair prepares for its upcoming opening. KSNB
- ➤ Residents, business owners and developers have been warned by the City of Grand Island and Hall County Regional Planning Commission about a fraudulent email that falsely claims to be from Community Development Director Chad Nabity and asks for a rezoning fee payment via wire transfer+ they are told not to reply and to call City Hall at 308+385+5444 to verify any communication. - ➤ Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services warned residents to prepare for extreme heat as temperatures are expected to rise over 100 degrees this weekend; officials urged everyone to stay cool, hydrate, and check on vulnerable neighbors (such as older adults and young children). KSNB

- ➤ Voting ended at Fonner Park in Grand Island where Tennessee Moon was named Horse of the Year and Older Filly or Mare of the Year after winning three stakes races—while Komorebino Omoide was named Older Horse of the Year following an 11-length win in a key race.
