  • On Saturday — June 14 — protesters in Central Nebraska gathered in Hastings, Grand Island, and Kearney to join national No Kings demonstrations against rising authoritarianism.  KSNB
  • A rally at Capital and Broadwell in Grand Island supported veterans with signs reading 'Vets Deserve Better' and 'Honor Our Vets'—one sign controversially stated that German soldiers were 'just following orders.'  The Grand Island Independent
  • Summit Real Estate hosted its second annual golf scramble on Friday at Indianhead Golf Club to raise thousands for Willow Rising, a nonprofit offering 24-hour emergency services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault impacted by a recent fire+ the funds will help the nonprofit recover and continue its services.  KSNB

  • Central Community College announced the names of full-time students who made the spring honor lists today from its Columbus, Grand Island, Hastings, and other campuses. Students earned a perfect 4.0 for the President’s Honor List & a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99 for the Dean’s Honor List.  The Grand Island Independent
  • The board discussed whether to include a referral to law enforcement in the district’s enrollment policy for parents who cannot provide a birth certificate or alternative proof—leading to a tabled vote on Policy 8511 as members debated the statute’s requirements and potential impact on families.
