Good morning, Grand Island.

In April, the newly opened Grand Island Casino Resort surpassed $1 million in taxable gaming revenue and generated over $5.4 million in gross revenue, with 20% taxed to various funds + local shares.

General Manager Vince Fiala said spring excitement boosted play, though he expects revenues to slow down in the summer.

Gov. Jim Pillen signed a law that limits sports participation based on athletes’ assigned sex—he pledged to bring back measures that restrict bathrooms and locker rooms in schools, prisons and at the Capitol.

The Grand Island Police and Fire Departments join with the American Red Cross for the 2025 Battle of the Badges Blood Drive—held at locations in Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings, where donors receive a commemorative t-shirt, $15, and entry into a drawing for a $7,000 gift card.
