- ➤ Grand Island Parks and Rec has announced a free Summer Concert Series that will run from June 5 through July 17 at Grace Abbott Park and Buechler Park. Residents will enjoy live music on Thursday evenings from 8 to 9 p.m. and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets as they listen to acts including TeZZ, Mohanna with Red Shoes, Jesse Karr Band, Karen Lee, Blue Plate Special and Swing 21. - ➤ The Grand Island Public Library will launch its 2025 Summer Reading Program at 11:30 a.m. on May 31 for children and families. - ➤ State lawmakers in Nebraska are considering merging a proposal to slow minimum wage increases with a bill that would weaken paid sick leave protections after Sen. Jane Raybould filed her measure as an amendment to Sen. Beau Ballard’s LB415. The proposal would replace planned hikes from $13.50 to $15 next year with a 1.75% annual increase and change youth and training wages if lawmakers act soon. KSNB
