- ➤ Two Grand Island men are in federal custody after a grand jury indicted them on federal drug trafficking charges. KSNB

- ➤ A Grand Island man, Jonathan Cruz-Lopez—34, was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child after officers responded on May 22 on Lincoln Ave and he faces a preliminary hearing on June 12 at 9:30 a.m. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Fifty students at Grand Island Senior High earned honors recognition by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher, with some recognized as summa cum laude and others as magna cum laude. The Grand Island Independent

- ➤ At the May 20 meeting, Hall County Commissioners reported that federal cutbacks affected local organizations—Central District Health Department cut travel and did not replace two positions, Transportation might face a 30% budget reduction, and CASA funding experienced significant cuts. - ➤ At its May 22 meeting in Grand Island, the Central Platte Natural Resources District Board approved cease and desist orders for 30 producers who did not submit the required crop reports or water and soil sample results under the nitrogen management program. The board also voted on projects including a role as fiscal agent for the Central City Riverfront Development Project and contracts for a new office and education center—set for completion in February. - ➤ Nebraska lawmakers claimed Gov. Pillen missed the deadline on several line-item veto actions on the state’s upcoming budget. Gov.
