- ➤ Mercy Meals of Grand Island will host a volunteer event on Saturday, May 31 to pack 150,000 meals to fight hunger. Volunteers aged 10 and older can sign up for a two-hour shift at Heartland Lutheran High School—3900 W. Husker Highway, where the meals will be sent locally and abroad. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ On Thursday, Kenesaw City Auditorium held a groundbreaking as major renovations began, and on Wednesday the Cornhusker State Games launched their inaugural torch tour with its first stop in Grand Island. - ➤ Hall County commissioners said federal funding cuts from the CDC have forced local agencies—such as the public health department, transit services, and CASA—to reduce staffing and programs. Jim Pillen signed Legislative Bill 198 into law Tuesday—this measure will take effect on Jan. 1 and stops pharmacy benefit managers from using practices that squeeze reimbursement rates from local pharmacies.
