- ➤ The Nebraska Court of Appeals upheld Austin Kelly’s 18 to 38‑year sentence for his role in the Fonner Park incident—where Todd Scherer died from a fatal head injury after being struck with a baseball bat and suffering a bullet wound—rejecting Kelly’s claims of ineffective counsel. - ➤ Sen. Fischer said discussions in Washington are considering relocating parts of the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) to Nebraska to benefit local ranchers and strengthen precision agriculture research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
