- ➤ The annual Grand Island Hometown Heroes banner reveal ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. May 14 at Grand Island Senior High School auditorium—doors open at 5 p.m. and banners honoring 51 local veterans will be displayed along Capital Avenue until Veterans Day. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ On May 6 Hornady Companies raised nearly $6,000 from Nebraska Strong T-shirt sales for wildfire relief and will match donations to bring the total to about $12,000 for the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association Disaster Relief Fund. - ➤ Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive will tour Nebraska this month—stopping in Grand Island on May 28 from 3:15 to 4 p.m. CDT—and join six other whistle-stops as part of its coast-to-coast tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Nebraska TV
