  • The Bosselman Family Foundation announced corporate partnership grants to support local nonprofits that improve health care access and reduce childhood hunger. Third City Community Clinic receives $40,000 to expand free care services, and Project Hunger gets $20,000 + in-kind support to help nearly 500 school children.  Nebraska TV
  • Hornady is hosting a wildfire relief fundraiser to support farmers affected by recent wildfires. Exclusive shirts are available for purchase until Wednesday, May 13 and all proceeds benefit the Nebraska Cattleman's Disaster Relief Fund.  Nebraska TV

  • Andrea Peachey has been named the executive director of GI Expo Events & Livestock at Fonner Park, where she will lead efforts to maintain traditional livestock shows & add new consumer and trade events to boost community engagement.  Central Nebraska Today

  • The City Council approved a $380K grant for Case New Holland’s expansion in Grand Island that will add 45 new jobs and boost local production. Some residents worry about using tax dollars for a private firm while officials say the funding will strengthen community growth.  Nebraska TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • April marked the least snowy season on record in Kearney with 6.6 inches of snowfall and beneficial rainfall amid ongoing drought, while Grand Island logged 9.9 inches (its fourth least snowy season) with slightly below normal rainfall.  Central Nebraska Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Attorney General Mike Hilgers said a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family became effective Friday, giving Nebraska nearly $19.7 million for addiction treatment and recovery + transferring Purdue’s manufacturing operations to Knoa Pharma LLC with limits on opioid diversion.  KSNB
  • Two streets in Grand Island are partly closed for infrastructure repairs; Parkview Drive at Chesapeake Circle and Plum Street at Ashton Avenue will remain closed until May 13.  KSNB
