- ➤ The Grand Island Kennel Club invites the public to attend the AKC All Breed Dog Show, Obedience & Rally Trials on May 10th & May 11th at Fonner Park Pinnacle Bank Expo Center where breed judging starts at 8:30 a.m. and doors open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday. Fast Cat Trials for all breeds will run from May 9th to 11th behind the Event Center. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Federal officials canceled nearly $100 million in grants for Nebraska health programs, including childhood vaccinations, disease prevention, and research, leaving local departments with fewer resources to improve outbreak readiness (the temporary restraining order for other states does not apply to Nebraska). - ➤ Governor Pillen has issued an order today to keep a burn ban in central and western Nebraska until midnight May 10 because the area is very dry. The ban covers a line (from U.S. Highway 81 at the South Dakota border to Highway 92, then west to U.S. Highway 281 and south to the Kansas border) while burning is allowed outside that area unless a red flag warning is in effect.
