- ➤ A suspect arrested for trespassing at Grand Island Casino—identified as Roxanne White—resisted arrest when she threatened an officer and faces charges for second degree criminal trespass and resisting arrest. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ A Grand Island man, 35-year-old Duniesky Benitez Torres, charged with motor vehicle homicide and two traffic infractions from a fatal accident near the intersection of County Road 23 and County Road B in Kearney County, is set for a jury trial on July 10 at 9 a.m.—a pre-trial hearing was held on April 3. - ➤ The Grand Island Public Library is hosting free summer programs for kids, teens and families in June and July with a summer theme of Color Our World. The schedule includes a kids kickoff on May 31 at 11:30 a.m., a teen water fight on June 2, summer reading camp, art shows and hands-on workshops – events that require pre-registration when space is limited. - ➤ Today at 12 p.m.—seven Nebraska Army National Guard soldiers will march from Veterans Club Park along a route that includes Sycamore Street and Railside to the Hall County Courthouse to honor seven local veterans killed during the Vietnam War. - ➤ Governor Pillen announced that Nebraska will allow E15 sales at gas stations this summer following an EPA emergency waiver - he said the waiver will boost Nebraska ethanol and help keep a steady fuel supply during the busy summer driving season. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ The Grand Island Building Department has started using new CitizenServe software to change building permits and licensing from paper to digital forms after weeks of testing + the system replaces old paper methods. Chief Building Officer Ed Klimek said the rollout has gone well despite a few glitches + other city departments will join the new process in the coming weeks. Central Nebraska Today
