- ➤ The Friends of Grand Island Public Library will host a book fair on May 1 from 9 a.m.—4 p.m. in the daily book sale area and Art Alcove where volunteers offer used books, t-shirt vinyl customization and artisan bookmarks while The Chocolate Bar serves drip coffee and a food truck will be in the parking lot from 11 a.m.—2 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Grand Island Public Library Foundation to help earn the Jack Grange Memorial Challenge Grant. - ➤ B&B Theatres at Conestoga Marketplace in Grand Island will open to the public on May 1 at 5:30 p.m. with eight screens and extra attractions such as a 10-lane bowling alley, arcade, and outdoor pickleball courts while test nights for local school staff and a ribbon-cutting ceremony are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
