- ➤ More than 50 city leaders and business owners joined the National Guard Boss Lift event on Wednesday at Nebraska Air National Guard, taking a ride on a CH-47 Chinook to learn about the Guard's mission + Grand Island Police Sergeant Jason Wood was honored with the Employer Patriot Award from ESGR. - ➤ The Nebraska State Fair 1868 Foundation has launched its '250 for 250' campaign to enlist 25 leadership donors who will each contribute $10,000 to raise $250,000 for fairground improvements at the fair from Aug. 28 through Sept. 7. Contact Lindsey Koepke by May 25. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ Residents attended an open house on Thursday, Apr. 23 to review plans for the Cornhusker Viaduct Project and share feedback with city officials. The meeting provided a chance to learn about the project before final plans are made. KSNB

- ➤ Turner Happold, a senior from Grand Island at Doniphan-Trumbull High School, was awarded a $1,000 Champion Seed scholarship to support his college education. He will attend Southeast Community College for agricultural management this fall (nominated by Happold Farms for his academic record and passion for agriculture). Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Residents along Lake Hastings told city council members (during a work session Monday) about potential solutions to address the lake's historically low water levels, prompting discussion among local leaders. KSNB
- ➤ The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is asking USDA for approval to ban candy purchases with SNAP benefits to support healthier buying choices. If approved, this policy will join soda and energy drink limits under the Healthy Choice Waiver and take effect Nov. 1. Nebraska TV
