- ➤ The April Sampson Cancer Center hosted an art fundraiser (combining creative healing and support) on Saturday to raise money for cancer patients in the community. KSNB
- ➤ About 30 neighbors spent their weekend cleaning and restoring the Florence depot museum — a community effort to preserve local history that shows strong local spirit. KSNB
- ➤ Friendship Home is hosting its Stuff the Bus drive (a donation campaign aimed at gathering essential goods) and invites local residents to contribute items this week to support those in need. KSNB
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A Kids Kingdom mural will be unveiled at 4 p.m. Monday at Stolley Park. Local organizers say the event will showcase community art for children. The Grand Island Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Grand Island City Council approved raising the hotel occupation tax from 2% to 4% & a $100 room will now be subject to a $17 tax per night. The decision is set to affect hotel pricing citywide. The Grand Island Independent
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The UNK Lopers finished their spring workouts Saturday with the annual Blue-Gold scrimmage where Team Blue defeated Team White 13-3 after Eastern Michigan transfer Jayvin Norman scored a touchdown. The team will host its Lopers Backers banquet Thursday, April 23. KSNB
- ➤ Nebraska softball beat Minnesota 17-2 Saturday in Minneapolis after scoring a season-high 17 runs — including grand slams by Hannah Coor and Jesse Farrell — to claim sole possession of first place in the Big Ten. They will try to sweep their next series Sunday at noon. Central Nebraska Today
