- ➤ The Nebraska Farm Bureau Disaster Relief Fund is now accepting applications to help farm and ranch families affected by spring wildfires that burned one million acres in Nebraska. - ➤ Grand Island Casino Resort celebrated one year of operation as Andrew Collins reported live on its business growth in Fonner Park. The report highlighted steady expansion since opening. KSNB

- ➤ Merrick County Historical Museum unveils a new 28,000 sqft facility that preserves local history — featuring exhibits on the Transcontinental Railroad and Highway 30 and built with over 500 donors' support. An open house is scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. KSNB

- ➤ Mary Berlie, president of the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corp. and Chamber of Commerce, briefed City Council on April 14 about plans to retain state and national livestock shows by shifting duties to Grand Island Expo Events and Livestock (replacing the dissolved Livestock Complex Authority) and requesting LB840 funds. - ➤ Johnson Lake's Nautical Rose received approval from Dawson County commissioners on April 15 to operate keno lottery sales under state law. Owner Shawn Engberg from Kearney's Alley Rose branch said the unanimous vote supports community betterment (the restaurant opened in May 2020). Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Grand Island Parks and Recreation is launching its 'Forever Young' active-aging wellness program for seniors to boost fitness and social connection. The initiative will be held at local community centers — details on class schedules will be shared soon. KSNB
