Community members gathered Saturday afternoon in Ord to honor Master Sgt. Noah Tietjens, who died in Kuwait while serving his country; the service featured family tributes, military honors (including a Quilt of Honor and rifle salute) and heartfelt recollections from those who knew him.

Walnut Middle School teacher Blake Teichmeier was named Economic Educator of the Year as Principal Rod Foley said his positive energy helped students build financial confidence.

On Saturday at Bowlin Stadium, No. 8 Nebraska softball swept Rutgers in a doubleheader, winning game one by mercy rule eight to zero and game two five to three.
Nebraska will try to sweep its next Big Ten series Sunday at the same venue.
