  • Lyonheart Equine Assisted Learning will host its Wild West Carnival (celebrating 10 years) at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds on April 12, and the event will offer community members a unique celebration of its decade-long program.  KSNB

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Show Me Reptile Show will be held on May 3 at the Aurora Cooperative Pavilion in Fonner Park in Grand Island, offering animal lovers interactive displays and hands-on reptile encounters. VIP entry begins at 9 a.m. with general admission at 10 a.m. (prices are $15 for VIP, $10 for general, $5 for children ages 7–12, and free for children 6 and under).  Central Nebraska Today

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Farmers and fuel retailers in Grand Island are urging a change in EPA rules that limit E15 sales to summer use and increase costs for converting fuel tanks. Legislators including Rep. Adrian Smith are considering (Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2025), which could lower pump prices and boost rural jobs.  Nebraska TV

  • Mayor Roger Steele honored lone honoree Bob Hinrichs—World War II veteran—at Tabitha at Prairie Commons by presenting him a medal and certificate for his service.  The Grand Island Independent
  • Grand Island Emergency Center is using AI to train new dispatchers by assessing call quality and simulating 911 calls—approved with a $23,906.25 annual contract on March 25, the system will be tailored to local procedures before final purchase.  KSNB
  • The Grand Island Parks & Recreation Department is hiring lifeguards for Island Oasis and Lincoln Pool as temperatures rise—applicants can apply in person or digitally. Seasonal positions pay $15 per hour with flexible hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and run from Memorial Day through the end of summer while training is provided.  Central Nebraska Today
  • After Tuesday night's storm left Grand Island with fallen power poles and outages, utility crews worked long hours to restore service — officials say repair efforts are expected to continue.  KSNB
