COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Grand Island Public Library will host its 22nd Annual Bear Fair on Monday, April 14. The free fair will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will offer preschoolers and their families educational activities focused on early literacy and safety — including Bear Tales, Bearobics, and bear crafts — along with chances to meet community helpers.  Central Nebraska Today

CRIME NEWS

  • A silver 1999 Jeep Laredo was stolen Monday morning from Cherry St when its owner left it running (the vehicle is valued at $15,000), police said (the case remains under investigation).  Central Nebraska Today

CULTURE NEWS

  • Grand Island Little Theatre will present its Nebraska premiere of 'I Left My Dignity in My Other Purse'—a comedy by Shelley Chester—with shows on April 4, 5, 11, and 12 at 7:30 p.m. and additional matinees on April 6 and 13 at College Park Auditorium at 3180 West US Highway 34.  Central Nebraska Today

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Grand Island Area Economic Development Corp. received an additional $1.2 million for its workforce housing program from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development's Rural Workforce Housing Fund Program.  The Grand Island Independent
  • The Central Nebraska Regional Airport is preparing to upgrade its jets this summer as American Airlines will start using CRJ900 jets in July that add 10 seats per flight. The airport set a record with over 5,900 passengers in February and expects the change to boost travel and create more jobs — driving local growth — in Grand Island.  Nebraska TV
