- ➤ Y102 raised a record $383,642 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during its two-day telethon on March 26–27 in Kearney — NRG Media Central Nebraska staff led by Scotty O and Lisa Williams managed the event. - ➤ Heartland United Way held its 79th annual meeting on Mar. 27 in Grand Island. Leaders reviewed the group’s past impact and outlined plans to boost local support going forward. KSNB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pius X hosted International Day on Mar. 28, celebrating the heritage of its students in its second annual event. The school held various activities that highlighted cultural traditions for the local community. KSNB
- ➤ Central Community College has opened a 12,500-sqft Welding Technology Building on campus to expand its welding program for area businesses. The new facility (designed to boost local skills) will offer advanced training opportunities. The Grand Island Independent

- ➤ Nebraska football will host its Spring Game at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 11. The scrimmage marks the debut for newcomers including quarterback Anthony Colandrea and will air on Big Ten Network at 6+10 p.m. KSNB
