Y102’s 24th Annual Radiothon began Thursday morning and will end today to raise donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital—organizers expect to build on last year’s record-breaking results as the event marks 24 years of fundraising that has raised almost $4 million.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said that when a group unloading a boat near Interstate 80 and Highway 34 lost sight of one man on Thursday around 5:15 p.m., he was later found in the water at Mormon Island State Recreation Area and multiple agencies began investigating the possible drowning.

The tributes will include brief remarks, a prayer, guest speakers and a candle lighting tribute to encourage organ, eye and tissue donor registration.

Grand Island's City-owned Jackrabbit Run Golf Course has been named a finalist for 59Club USA's Most Improved Golf Experience award as it opens its season.

Course manager Sadonna Manfull said staff efforts and new features like upgraded golf carts have helped earn the nomination—and she expects more rounds this year.
