- ➤ Grand Island emergency responders ran their annual March Madness drill on Thursday, March 19 to practice responses for a catastrophic tornado (modeled on the 2011 Joplin event) and test interagency coordination. The exercise is part of the city's ongoing commitment to public safety. Nebraska TV
- ➤ USDA is offering disaster assistance to help Nebraska farmers and livestock producers recover from wildfires that burned 824,000 acres. Affected producers must report losses and apply for programs like the Livestock Indemnity Program before March 1. KSNB
- ➤ On Friday, Gov. Pillen met with firefighters, emergency management representatives and volunteers on the front lines of the wildfire response near Grand Island — officials said the meeting helped assess current efforts. KSNB

- ➤ Nebraska meteorologist Kent Boughton announced his stage 4 cancer diagnosis on Friday and has completed one round of chemotherapy with another scheduled for the end of March. He said he will continue forecasting for News Channel Nebraska despite voice changes from treatment. KSNB
