- ➤ On Wednesday night, fire crews responded to a blaze on the 1700 block of west 2nd Street that heavily damaged two businesses—Star Nails sustained the heaviest damage while Paradise Donuts suffered smoke and water damage—with no injuries reported as the fire was put out in 10 minutes and the incident is under investigation. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Grand Island police arrested Jake Jacquot on March 19 after he allegedly assaulted a woman protected by an active order, causing redness on her back (he attempted to flee before officers caught him) and charging him with third degree domestic assault and a protection order violation. - ➤ The Nebraska State Fair will host four outdoor concerts as part of the Nebraska Lottery Concert Series — Sawyer Brown will perform a free show on August 28, rock bands Skillet and Theory of a Deadman will perform on August 29, the Forever Young Tour featuring Vanilla Ice, O-Town, Ryan Cabrera, and LFO will play on August 30, and La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho will perform on August 31 at TD Landing in Grand Island. Tickets for the rock and pop shows will go on sale on March 24 — available at the fair box office or online. Central Nebraska Today
