- ➤ The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities has invited Nebraskans to join Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month this March—urging everyone to wear orange, share stories, and support inclusion in education, work, and civic life. The department noted that efforts to reduce the DD waitlist have resulted in 2,181 waiver offers while 940 people still await specialized services—demonstrating ongoing progress. - ➤ Today, Ag Day brings farm experiences to local students in Grand Island—many of whom have never been on a farm—to see baby pigs and learn about the important role of agriculture. - ➤ Today, the Nebraska State Fair announced the 2025 Stampede Series and introduced the new Twisted Chrome Series that will add Crossroads Chaos—a figure 8 racing event—to its lineup along with bull riding, bullfighting, truck and tractor pulls, and a demolition derby. Tickets will go on sale March 24 and the fair will run at Fonner Park in Grand Island from August 22 through September 1. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Yesterday, March 18, the Crane Trust Science Team surveyed an 80-mile stretch of the Central Platte River Valley and reported 736,000 Sandhill Cranes — the highest count ever recorded in the area. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Grand Island declared a Snow Emergency today (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) after a National Weather Service Blizzard Warning, and cars cannot be parked on roads with (red, white and blue) signs. Police will check these routes and county offices will open at noon as officials advise residents to limit travel until the streets are cleared. KSNB
