- ➤ A grass fire started during a prescribed burn in Howard County and burned several acres. Fire chief Randy Faaborg said low humidity and gusty winds may have allowed the fire to spread (other causes like lightning or ATVs are possible), though no injuries were reported. KSNB
- ➤ Critical fire danger gripped central Nebraska starting Tuesday and will persist through the weekend as strong winds of about (20 mph) with gusts over (30 mph) combine with low humidity and dry conditions; minimal rain is expected to have little effect. KSNB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A deputy from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office used a backyard trampoline today to peek over a fenced yard during a search, and the humorous video quickly went viral online. KSNB
- ➤ The Grand Island VA Medical Center will host a job fair for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses on March 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2201 N. Broadwell Ave, where applicants can learn about open positions, tour the facility and interview on site. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ Work will resume on Highway 30 west of Grand Island, which includes building left-turn-only lanes at Claude Road + replacing the intersection at Old Highway 30 and Stolley Park Road. The project is set to begin soon. The Grand Island Independent
