EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Central Community College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, Mar. 4 to open a new welding technology lab in Grand Island that doubles the previous space and adds enhanced ventilation and extra Fronius welding machines (for safe, versatile training), allowing more students to work side by side. - ➤ The Grand Island Public Library is hosting free spring break programs from March 9 through 13 that include a Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash, a Construction Challenge, a Paper Towel Tube Craftstravaganza, a folk music workshop and a Teen Mario Day Celebration without requiring registration. - ➤ At Central Community College Hastings on Feb. 26, the Jim DeBord Scholarship awarded $1,000 each to Grand Island’s Zach Johnson and Lincoln’s Cameron Collins, and Jim DeBord received an honorary diploma recognizing 33 years in heavy equipment work. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ Gov. Pillen ordered all U.S. and Nebraska flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset in honor of Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, who died Tuesday when an Iranian missile hit a military operations center in Kuwait. The governor said his decision honors Tietjens’s sacrifice. KSNB
