  • Yesterday, the Central Nebraska Humane Society visited a Grand Island pet to check on its health and offer support. The outreach highlights the organization’s ongoing effort to care for local animals.  KSNB
  • The Center for Rural Affairs announced award winners recognized for strengthening rural communities, with presentations scheduled for this spring. Honorees include Al Davis, Mitch Schlegelmilch, Sandro Lopes, Tony and Amber Ellsworth, and Ben Jewell (each celebrated for contributions ranging from lifetime service to entrepreneurial efforts).  Nebraska TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marlo Reyes has served as an ESL teacher and paraprofessional at Knickrehm Elementary for 30 years and was honored with the 2025–26 Friend of School Social Work award (recognizing her dedication) before planning to retire at year’s end and help set up an outdoor classroom.  KSNB

  • Nebraska conservation leaders were honored at the NACD meeting in San Antonio, Texas from Feb. 15-19 for their contributions to natural resource preservation + awards recognized decades of local and national dedication.  Nebraska TV

  • Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen applauded a new U.S.-Taiwan reciprocal trade agreement on Monday that will benefit agriculture and high-technology sectors by cutting 99% of tariff barriers and boosting export opportunities for beef, corn, grains, and soybeans.  KSNB

HEALTH NEWS

  • The USDA announced that Rosina Food Products has recalled 9,462 pounds of frozen Bremer Family Size Italian Style Meatballs for potential metal contamination sold at local Aldi stores – shoppers with an expiration date of Oct. 30 may return or discard the product as no injuries have been reported.  KSNB

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nebraska's basketball team is no longer in the top 10 after Monday's AP poll ranked them No. 12. The Huskers improved to 23-4 with a win over Penn State on Saturday and will host Maryland Wednesday at 6 p.m.  KSNB
