- ➤ City Council approved an 8-stall RV park at 1333 E. Stolley Park Road south of Fonner Park for short-term visitors. Owner Amye Webster said the park will offer water, electric, and septic hookups with careful landscaping (berms and trees) to preserve local quiet. Central Nebraska Today
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Lied Center broke ground on a $35M expansion and will remain open during construction, which is expected to finish in fall 2027. The Grand Island Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Grand Island Public Schools named new principals for Walnut Middle School and Starr Elementary who will take over when the 2026-27 school year begins. The Grand Island Independent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment announced on Feb. 11 that it awarded over $7 million in grants to fund 126 waste and litter reduction projects statewide, including recycling programs, scrap tire cleanups + public education campaigns. Nebraska TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ USDA announced enrollment for the Continuous CRP begins today (Feb. 12) until March 20, while General CRP submissions run from March 9 until April 17. Local agricultural producers and landowners should contact their FSA county office to offer land for water quality and soil conservation. Central Nebraska Today

- ➤ CHI Health St. Francis is offering a free 7-week tobacco cessation program called Freedom from Smoking starting Tuesday, Feb. 24 (5 to 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1 at the hospital) with registration closing Monday, Feb. 23. Central Nebraska Today
