  • Most Reverend James R. Golka, a native of Grand Island, has been named archbishop of the Denver Archdiocese by Pope Leo XIV in a Vatican announcement Saturday, replacing Most Reverend Samuel J. Aquila. Golka brings decades of local pastoral service following his ordination in 1994.  KSNB

  • The Early Childhood Education Conference was held today at Central Community College — providing essential resources to local early childhood educators.  KSNB
  • Janice Budd is preparing to retire after nearly 46 years running her home day care in Grand Island. She has cared for local children with patience and compassion, making her service a valued part of the community.  The Grand Island Independent

  • Grand Island city officials announced they will treat the starling population to reduce disturbances in public areas. The treatment will begin soon after final approvals, officials said.  KSNB
