- ➤ Today, a new deli has opened downtown offering homemade focaccia, sandwiches, soups, and pasta that locals are already praising for quality. - ➤ The City of Grand Island will use Avitrol to control its starling population by partnering with Earlybird Pest Control during the week of Feb. 9. Residents are advised to dispose of dead birds safely as the treatment addresses noise and sanitation issues related to public health. Nebraska TV
- ➤ Grand Island will launch its 21st starling control effort this week using Avitrol to treat roosting areas and reduce noise and health concerns. Treatment will begin Feb. 9 with Earlybird Pest Control, and residents should safely dispose of deceased birds (using gloves). KSNB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ City officials in Grand Island advise residents to avoid contact with sick or dead birds today after H5N1 has been detected in migrating birds across local areas. Game and Parks will remove carcasses from public spaces (such as local lakes) to help reduce potential risks. Nebraska TV
