GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Speaker John Arch introduced a bill to form a Nebraska-Ireland trade commission that aims to boost business, research and cultural ties. The commission will include state and university representatives, meet quarterly, and a public hearing is scheduled for future input. KSNB
- ➤ Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele proposed a bookmobile at the State of the City address on Jan. 12 to bring library services closer to children and families facing transportation challenges, with costs estimated between $200,000 and $300,000. Central Nebraska Today
- ➤ The Grand Island Fire Department completed HazMat training with the Nebraska Civil Support Team today to practice chemical identification, scene safety, and decontamination procedures.
