  • Tattered Bookstore in Grand Island will close its doors permanently after nearly 20 years in business; community members cherish its long-standing role (details on a new venture have not been announced).  KSNB

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Central Nebraska Regional Airport posted a record 75,920 enplanements in 2025 driven by new flights after Allegiant Air added a third weekly flight and American Airlines upgraded to larger jets. The airport unveiled a 113-unit self-storage facility and will expand its passenger terminal for further growth.  KSNB

HEALTH NEWS

  • CHI Health Good Samaritan launched the state’s first robotic-assisted bronchoscopy system on Jan. 13 using the Galaxy technology to navigate over 90% of the lung for safer and more accurate diagnosis. The new system promotes faster recovery and reduces risks compared to conventional methods.  Central Nebraska Today
  • CHI Health St. Francis will close its skilled nursing facility on March 10 and will work to find new homes for its patients. The hospital is planning to relocate residents as part of its transition in Grand Island.  The Grand Island Independent

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Central Nebraska Home and Outdoor Living Expo will run from Friday, Jan. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 25 at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center at Fonner Park, showcasing home improvement exhibits (including antique John Deere tractors) and free seminars on Jan. 24. SPORTS NEWS

  • Braylon Wolfe, a GICC Basketball junior, was named Platte Valley Auto High Performance Athlete of the Week as he led his team to a four‐game win streak. He averaged 13.6 points per game and scored 17 against Kearney Catholic last Friday; his team will host David City Aquinas on Friday.  Central Nebraska Today
  • Legendary Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Ceremonies will take place on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas, Nev.  Central Nebraska Today
